The World Chen Xiaowang Taijiquan Association Brasil – Bahia Branch, formally authorized by the Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang and functioning under his mandate, was founded with its official opening ceremony on March 17, 2006, with the presence of its idealizer Master Jan Silberstorff.
Our Association is in the direct lineage of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang (Chen family 19th generation) and of Master Jan Silberstorff (20th generation). WCTA Brasil Bahia Branch teaches Chen family Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) of Chenjiagou, the legendary birthplace of Taijiquan (tai chi chuan).

WCTA is the largest traditional Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) association in the world, with branches in more than thirty countries. Therein, Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) is studied as a complete system, its components being traditional bare-hands and weapon forms, Tuishou (pushing hands) and Sanshou (free application of the techniques). The basis for this is the authentic Chen family Qigong (energy work), the silk reeling exercises.

Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) was originally practiced only inside the Chen clan, until about 150 years ago its teachings became available for the first time to the public. As a consequence, changes were introduced to the training and to the movements themselves, which gave rise to the creation of various schools of Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) (Yang, Wu etc.) – all deriving, however, from Chen style.
Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, the present standard bearer of the Chen family and heir of the original Taijiquan (tai chi chuan), as well as his disciple Jan Silberstorff and a team of more than 150 teachers, strives today to spread the original teaching of the Chen clan worldwide, so that the old family style teaching-and-learning carries on. WCTA-Br (CXWTA: Associação Mundial Chen Xiaowang de Tai Chi Chuan) now joins this family and its goal.

Seminars, training camps and traning trips are regularly offered by WCTA and WCTAG, the german branch that technically coordinates our Brazilian Association, with a strong focus on a continuos education process, essential for attaining proficiency in Taijiquan (tai chi chuan). WCTAG also permanently provides educational material to its Brazilian sister, WCTA-Br (CXWTA: Associação Mundial Chen Xiaowang de Tai Chi Chuan).

WCTA Brasil fosters yearly seminars on traditional Chen style Taijiquan (tai chi chuan), as well as lessons open only for its affiliated teachers, which have access to supervision and qualification exams run by Master Jan Silberstorff, according to the continuos education concept sponsored by WCTAG.
