Master Jan Silberstorff will be avaiable for private lessons at his home in Salvador during 2010.
Jan was born on 1967, in Germany. When only 22 years old, in 1989, he received the Chinese Government’s official diploma for his studies in Taijiquan (tai chi chuan), and was the first westener to win a gold medal in the Chenjiagou Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) tournament. Jan was accepted as an indoor disciple of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang in 1993, becoming the first westener to achieve this status and receive the according deph of teaching. Jan resided for more than 5 years with the Grandmaster in China and Australia to be trained. He was invited to take part in the 2006 kowtow ceremony at the Chen family Temple in Chenjiagou, thus being admited in the 20th generation of the Chen family lineage. Jan founded in Brazil, under the Grandmaster’s consent, the Bahia Branch of WCTA-Br (CXWTA: Associação Mundial Chen Xiaowang de Tai Chi Chuan), also in 2006.
In 1994 Jan SIlberstorff was the co-founder, with Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, of World Chen Xiaowang Taijiquan Association (WCTA), and became the president of WCTAG – the german branch of the Association. Under his leadership WCTAG was a founding member of DDQT, the german umbrela organization for Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) and Qigong. DDQT developed its General Educational Guideline (AALL) based on the educational concepts adopted by WCTAG. WCTAG is also the german branch of IAMTJQA, the Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) Association of Chenjiagou, and is a member of TCFE, the European Federation for Tajiquan. WCTAG is the largest independent Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) association of Europe, with nearly 150 teachers, 2000 students and a presence in 35 cities of its country.
Jan reads and speaks fluent chinese, and has authored numerous books, DVDs, magazine articles and TV shows on Taijiquan (tai chi chuan). He travels regularly to teach seminars in more than 15 countries. Jan is the Technical Director of WCTA-Br (CXWTA: Associação Mundial Chen Xiaowang de Tai Chi Chuan) Bahia Branch, and has been teaching seminars in Brazil since 2004, as well as supervising the Associaton’s technical standards and examining its affiliated teachers and instructors.
